Mayor’s Message
The coming of a new year always brings some excitement to accomplish many things and the possible challenge of difficult things. I often think of a quote from Will Rogers: “The best way out of a difficulty is through it”. While I certainly won’t say that nationally and locally we’re completely out of the challenges that have faced all of us for the past few years, I also believe we are slowly seeing things get better. We’ve seen a few new businesses come to town and some buildings being built. And from a City perspective, we have seen and greatly appreciate the many positive actions taken by residents, businesses and charitable groups in the last year to reach out and help others.
For those of you who’d like to like to know more about what is happening in the Garden City community, I encourage you to check our website for special events and to subscribe to the “Garden City News” (gardencitynews@msn.com) a monthly email newsletter put together by dedicated volunteers for other seasonal activities in the community.
I also encourage you to attend our City Council meetings which are the second and fourth Monday at 5:00 PM of each month. You can also attend our Planning and Zoning meetings that are the third Wednesday of each month starting at 6:30 PM. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, please contact the Garden City Library or the Garden City Police Department.
